The project ‘Delusion’, which had previously failed to materialize as a film, is making a grand comeback as a 45 billion won (~31.5M USD) big-budget drama.
Disney+’s upcoming series ‘Delusion’ is set to receive a massive investment of 45 billion won. With overseas filming planned in countries like China, the production team is currently in full swing preparing for the shoot. Ongoing casting announcements are also raising anticipation among viewers.
‘Delusion’ is a fantasy-mystery period drama based on the webtoon of the same name, which was serialized between 2019 and 2020. It unravels the strange rumors surrounding a captivating vampire woman, Song Jeong-hwa (played by Suzy), and a painter named Yoon Yi-ho (played by Kim Seon-ho), who is commissioned to paint her portrait.
Set in 1935 Gyeongseong and 1800s Shanghai, the show requires substantial CG work and overseas shooting, which has led to the enormous budget of 45 billion won.
Previously, ‘Delusion’ was slated to be adapted into a film, but the plan was scrapped last year due to the public romance between then-leads Ryu Junyeol and Han Sohee. At the time, Han Sohee acknowledged their relationship and explained in her statement, “I heard we might be working on a project together, so I stopped by the photo exhibition to greet him” — referring to ‘Delusion’ as the project in question.
