[theqoo] KIM SOOHYUN SUED FOR 3 BILLION WON IN DAMAGES BY ADVERTISERS

Actor Kim Soohyun, who has been embroiled in a personal life controversy, has finally been sued by advertisers.

According to a legal report on the 28th, two companies A and B, which had advertising contracts with Kim, filed a lawsuit against Kim and his agency, Gold Medalist, at the end of this month, claiming the return of modeling fees and damages.

The total value of the two companies’ lawsuits amounts to more than 3 billion won (~2M USD).

In addition to the two companies, other advertisers are expected to join the battle.

Company C is also considering terminating its advertising contract with Kim Soohyun, citing damage to trust, and filing a lawsuit for the return of advertising model fees or penalties.

“It is known in the industry that Kim Soohyun has signed advertising model contracts with 15 brands, and the model fee per contract in Korea is between 1 billion and 1.2 billion won (~695K USD ~ 834K USD),” entertainment lawyer Park Sung-woo (Law Firm Woori) told YTN star.

“Usually, advertisers don’t want it to be known that they are the first to file a lawsuit against a model. However, if it is revealed that even one company has filed a lawsuit, more advertisers are likely to follow suit.”

Based on the known modeling fees, the amount of the lawsuit could be more than 10 billion won (~6.95M USD).
