“SEVENTEEN Dino, to officially debut as his alter ego, Pi Cheol-in… ‘吉BOARD’ to be released on August 3”
With his military enlistment approaching, news about SEVENTEEN’s Dino’s solo album has been scarce
But he’s actually debuting as his alter ego, “Pi Cheol-in”
Pi Cheol-in is the nosy middle-aged guy in his 50s that Dino played in their self-made contents.
His performance was so entertaining and well-done that it became a pretty big meme
But later on, the company totally screwed up with this Pi Cheol-in character
(Ex. When assigning member traits, if it’s something like “rabbit + earphones + ring + salt bread” (just a random example), Dino would get “sunglasses + hiking outfit” (Pi Cheol-in’s signature look))
Even when it wasn’t a skit, they’d randomly bring up Pi Cheol-in like this every single time, so negative opinions among fans were growing stronger and stronger (this went on for 5 years)
But?
“This isn’t Dino
The concept for his first solo album before enlisting in the military is still under wraps
+ Trot genre (mentioned in an interview as having a “melodious tune”)
Album promotion includes an appearance on ‘National Singing Contest’
Information about the album, including a music video shoot at a colatec, has surfaced (T/N: “colatec” = A club-style entertainment venue where people dance and have fun in a wholesome atmosphere without serving alcohol.)
1. Fans were already expressing negative reactions because they felt the ‘Pi Cheol-in’ concept was being dragged on too much
2. This is his last activity before his military hiatus. It is also his first physical solo album
3. It takes a completely different direction from the solo song preferences the member has consistently shown so far

The truck protest fundraiser exceeded its goal by over 800%
Whether it’s TheQoo, Twitter, or anywhere else with fans, it’s gone completely viral
“No but just now… SVTCHIVE-nim just closed their account. All because of those f*cking dumb Pledis f*ckers”
A huge fan account also closed their account
Anyways, the fans are honestly all opposing this
It’s not like they’re just doing this as a one-off promotional stunt after doing a good job with his promotions. Dismissing his solo album released five years ago, before his military hiatus, as just some side-character concept that was briefly popular back then… doesn’t that just show how f*cking lazy the company is?
1. Seriously, is Pledis insane? There’s still time to snap out of it now
2. But isn’t SEVENTEEN at a late stage of their career now..? Do they never get involved at all when planning solo projects or deciding on a direction?
3. I feel like they are just doing this because he wanted to do this himself
4. If that’s his solo album, his opinions must’ve been greatly considered… can they even change things up now?
5. But aren’t they doing this because he really wanted to?? If they’ve been pushing this character for 5 years, then;;;;;;;;
6. He’s already that late into his career so his opinions must’ve been f*cking considered
7. I would’ve hated this too..
8. But it makes me wonder if they did this because he wanted to…
9. But they’re already done preparing everything. Isn’t it too late now? I guess you’ll just have to hope he comes back after his military service and releases a solo album with a different concept…
10. With his level of seniority, I don’t think you guys can blame the company for thisㅋㅋㅋ
