All BLACKPINK Members’ Separate Solo Pursuits: Soaring Success or Risky Move?

There’s a lot of speculation about what’s next for BLACKPINK as a group when the members venture into solo activities under different managements

After negotiations, BLACKPINK only renewed their group contract with YG Entertainment. Regarding their individual activities, they are heading separate paths. A whole group of four members going solo like BLACKPINK is groundbreaking. Korean media outlet SPOTV News is wondering if this is a risky move.

There’s a lot of concern floating around about BLACKPINK’s future as a group. Some worry that all the members doing individual activities at the same time might create conflicting images that don’t match the group’s vibe.

Take Lisa, for example—her daring decision to perform at Crazy Horse caused her to face backlash for breaking the traditional Kpop idol mold. While going solo might bring surprises and freshness, there’s also the risk of losing the unique and mysterious vibe that YG crafted for BLACKPINK.

SPOTV News isn’t ruling out the possibility of BLACKPINK losing some of their teamwork and synergy after a period of solo activities. Idol groups shine the brightest when all the members have each other’s backs, no matter how exceptional each individual is. That’s why, in most cases, companies try to keep groups together.

SPOTV News believes that for BLACKPINK to keep making waves globally in Kpop, they need to stick around for the long term. If the group’s activities take a hit because of the members’ solo pursuits, it would be a real blow.

Despite the uncertainty about how BLACKPINK’s new approach will pan out, SPOTV News is still hopeful about the members’ future. As long as they’re on the same page and avoid conflicting schedules, all the worries about BLACKPINK neglecting their group activities are unnecessary.

Since their debut, BLACKPINK has climbed up the ladder to become one of the top Kpop groups. With values developed over nearly a decade of working under YG, the members aren’t likely to do anything to tarnish their imageage easily now that they are no longer under YG.

BLACKPINK’s standing has gone up a lot, so it is believed the members’ group contracts with YG probably have terms that benefit both sides.
