Many K-pop idols established their personal labels after their contracts with previous agencies ended, and Jennie is the latest example
1. Jennie (BLACKPINK)
As BLACKPINK’s contract with YG Entertainment expired in 2023, all members of the group continue to sign with the agency for group activities.
2. Kang Daniel (former WANNA ONE)
After a long process of legal dispute with his former agency, former WANNA ONE member Kang Daniel founded his personal label, “KONNECT Entertainment”, in 2019.
While the agency initially started as a “one-man agency” with only Kang Daniel as its artist, it now also works with Chancellor and former GFRIEND member Yuju.
3. HIGHLIGHT (formerly BEAST)
In 2016, famous 2nd gen boy group BEAST left Cube Entertainment together after contract expiration, and established their personal label, “Around Us Entertainment”.
Due to legal issues, they also changed the group name to HIGHLIGHT. Around Us Entertainment now also manages a subsidiary called “With US Entertainment”, which is behind rookie boy group The Wind.
4. Rain
A special case is Rain, who has founded not one, but 2 entertainment companies. In particular, in 2007, Rain established J.Tune Entertainment, which merged with JYP Entertainment in 2013.
Later on in 2016, he founded R.A.I.N Company, which manages Rain himself alongside boygroup Ciipher and actress Oh Ye-ju.
