While it was initially reported BTS Suga (Min Yoongi) who is suspected of drunk driving would be questioned by police on the 22nd, HYBE is claiming that is “fake news” and that they’re being treated “unfairly.”

News of Suga’s 2nd police appearance was reported through a media outlet late on the night of the 21st. According to a police official, “Suga has been coordinating his police appearance schedule and will appear on the 22nd to be questioned about circumstances leading to his drunk driving.”

On the 14th, there was already talk that Suga was likely to appear at the police station, so reporters flocked to the scene. However, this time too, it was revealed to not be true and numerous reporters who visited the Yongsan Police Station since early morning had to turn away.

Initially, Suga was expected to arrive at 8:00 am but he didn’t show up. Around 9:30am, stories began to circulate on-site that they had received texts from HYBE saying, “I just checked, and they said he is not attending today.” “Please tell the reporters’ group chat.”

Some reporters on-site contacted HYBE to confirm the information and the scene became even more chaotic when they officially received a statement saying, “Not today.”

As complaints grew, HYBE emphasized that, “we informed the reporters on-site so that they would not have a hard time. This happened because of a fake report. This is very unfair.” Afterwards, when it started to rain, reporters who had been waiting for Suga on-site had no choice but to leave and this led to a second “no show” incident.

Meanwhile, Suga caught drunk driving on an electric scooter in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 6th. He was discovered “passed out” by a police officer patrolling the area and was subjected to a breathalyzer test. The results of the breathalyzer showed that his blood alcohol was 0.227%, far exceeding the license revocation standard (0.08%). Yongsan Police investigated him the next day on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.

In addition, Suga and his agency HYBE claimed that he was driving an electric kickboard however CCTV footage showed that it was an electric scooter classified as a motorized bicycle with a seat, raising suspicions that they were trying “downplay” the incident. This is because drunk driving on an electric scooter is subject to criminal punishment, same as drunk driving in a car.

Suga has been serving as a social service worker since September of last year and is scheduled to be discharged in June 2025.

  1. [+170, -45] What on earth could be the reason for not attending for over 2 weeks?? If he was an active soldier, I can understand that there would be a lot to take care of but what kind of schedule would a public service servant have that he’s putting it off so much?! Is he planning on only coming out after receiving summons?!
  2. [+135, -50] Even if it’s a mistake he’s coming off quite pathetic they way he keeps evading things.. his plate is quite small too
  3. [+88, -68] They’re saying it’s ‘fake news’ so they tripped on their own mistakes
  4. [+82, -79] It isn’t that Suga is avoiding investigations, it’s that trash reporters are writing gossip articles and everyone is eating it all up
  5. [+78, -52] What are you talking about? Then you go and get investigated on a day when trash is getting spread around even though it’s not the date of the investigation?!
  6. [+33, -6] Eh, the police haven’t summoned him so he didn’t show up, how is that evading it?? Are you sick?
  7. [+32, -9] What evasion ㅋㅋㅋㅋ they’re f*cking pissed that the scoundrels gathered together after reading some exclusive report, made a fuss, and waited all night.. they’re just taking their anger out on Suga ㅋㅋ
  8. [+30, -9] Suga is in the wrong.. even if police didn’t call him he should’ve made it official and showed up on the date they were waiting on him for. But he pulled a ‘no show’ again… he must be quite ashamed of what he did. If he’s that guilty that he’s standing up reporters, I wonder how much a sentence he deserves then.
  9. [+23, -11] It really looks like he’s totally evading it.
