The Military Manpower Administration (MMA) has revealed it’s position on suspicions that ‘special leave’ was suspended due to BTS Suga who was caught ‘drunk driving’ while performing social service.
Recently, many posts were uploaded to the ‘Human Public Interest’ app, a community for social service workers. The posts claimed that the special leave given to division leaders was eliminated started from this service period and the reason was Suga.
In response, social service workers expressed their discontent writing, “We did nothing wrong but we’re getting punished because of celebrities..” “The biggest benefit for social service workers is gone!” and “They’re public figures, shouldn’t they have done at least a little bit of image management?!”
In response to this, the MMA announced on the 21st, “We have emphasized the importance of the role of division leaders in terms of social service worker education but we haven’t reviewed the suspension of special leave, etc.”
In November last year, an informant A, posted on the community and revealed that he had trained with Suga. A wrote, “Suga was the division leader (team leader) at the time but he was neglecting his duties. The instructor must’ve felt it was too much too because he even reprimanded him. He just got up, nodded, looked at his phone, and went back to sleep.”
A added, “Suga’s participation rate was also the lowest. He’s like that mediocre bully that you meet at the beginning of the semester in school.”
The post is being brought back to light again after Suga was caught drunk driving on the 6th and its causing a stir. Complaints are being filed requesting investigations into whether he received commendation and special leave despite his insincere attitude.
For this reason, many social service workers are expressing suspicions and complaints that suspension of special leave was done in response to Suga’s scandal.
Suga, who was a social service worker since September 22, 2023, was caught passed out alone while riding an electric scooter drunk in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, on the 6th. Contrary to Suga’s statement that “he had one glass of beer,” breathalyzer results showed that his blood alcohol level was 0.227%, which is far higher than the license revocation level (0.08%).
Suga is also under suspicion of trying to downplay the incident by writing his statement that he was riding a ‘kickboard’ instead of a ‘scooter.’
