Ador is set to send its staff to the Hong Kong event of the group NewJeans. On the 21st, the Civil Division 60 of the Seoul Central District Court (Judge Kim Sang-hoon) granted Ador’s injunction request against the five members of NewJeans regarding the ‘preservation of agency status and prohibition of signing advertising contracts.’
NewJeans was scheduled to attend the “ComplexCon” stage in Hong Kong on the 23rd under the new team name NJZ. Previously, the organizers of ComplexCon announced through their official SNS that NewJeans would perform as the headliner, and that the concert for that date had sold out.
Although the court’s decision to grant Ador’s injunction suggested that NewJeans’ Hong Kong event would be canceled, Ador decided to support NewJeans’ attendance at the Hong Kong stage. Ador plans to request the organizers to list the group under their original name, rather than NJZ.
NewJeans notified Ador that their exclusive contract had been terminated as of midnight on November 29 of last year. However, with the court granting Ador’s injunction, NewJeans is now unable to pursue independent activities. The court ordered that, in addition to preserving Ador’s status as the agency, NewJeans is prohibited from engaging in independent music activities and signing advertising contracts.
