[instiz] I.O.I, PLANNING A REUNION… CELEBRATING 10TH ANNIVERSARY NEXT YEAR

The girl group I.O.I is currently in discussions for a reunion. They are planning to release a new song to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut next year.

I.O.I was a project group formed in 2016 through Mnet’s audition program Produce 101 Season 1, consisting of the top 11 trainees out of 101, including Kim Sejeong, Jeon Somi, Chungha, Choi Yoojung, and Jung Chaeyeon. The group officially disbanded in 2017, and although there were discussions of a reunion in 2019, the plan was canceled due to the vote manipulation controversy surrounding the program.

After many years, the reunion project is being pushed forward as a “gift” to fans in celebration of their 10th debut anniversary in 2026. The members themselves were the first to express interest in reuniting, and they communicated this intent to their respective agencies, initiating recent discussions.

To make the reunion project a reality, representatives from the members’ agencies recently gathered in one place to coordinate opinions on timing and other key details.

One attendee stated, “Since all the members are under different agencies, there are many steps we need to go through. This was the first time we discussed concrete matters such as the timing, format, and management of the reunion. Although it’s difficult to align schedules since all the members are actively promoting, the members are strongly committed to making this reunion happen, so we’re optimistic.”
