[instiz] [OFFICIAL] AMERICAN BILLBOARD PICKS THE #1 KOREAN MUSICIAN, “IU”

Singer IU has been selected as the representative of Korea in the ‘Global No. 1 Artist Series’ by Billboard, once again proving her unparalleled status not only in Korea but also on the global stage.

Billboard praised IU, saying, “IU is irreplaceable. There are many people who stand out in various fields such as popular idols, talented musicians, skilled actors, and hosts who smoothly run television and variety shows, but no one does all of these things at once like IU.”

They also mentioned, “Especially, the love K-pop fans, and even Korean music fans, have for IU as a musician is absolute. Her popularity spans all age groups, from the young to the older generations, and this is especially evident in her musical achievements and performances.”

Billboard further analyzed IU’s chart and world tour accomplishments this year, stating, “IU has made an overwhelming presence on the 2024 charts. ‘Love wins all’ topped the Melon TOP100 chart within an hour of release, followed by 4 consecutive weeks at number 1 on the weekly chart, number 1 on the monthly chart in February, and 339 Perfect All-Kills on I-Charts, among other amazing feats.”

Regarding her world tour, Billboard noted, “IU attracted around 500,000 spectators with 31 performances across 12 countries, setting a record for the largest world tour by a Korean female solo artist.” They also added, “She became the first female singer to perform at the Seoul World Cup Stadium and the first female artist to perform in all major domestic stadiums, earning an unprecedented title.”

In a Billboard interview, IU expressed her feelings about the recognition, saying, “Global, Billboard, number one. These terms feel awkward but are also an honor, and I’m very happy.”
