[instiz] “SQUID GAME 2” ACTRESS LEE JOO-SIL, PASSES AWAY BATTLING CANCERT… 81 Y’O THIS YEAR

According to the industry on February 2nd, Lee Joo-sil passed away around 10:20 AM at the Catholic University of Korea Uijeongbu St. Mary’s Hospital.

It is reported that she had been battling stomach cancer, which was discovered during a recent health check-up.

Earlier, Lee had fought breast cancer in its advanced stages in 1993. In 2010, she was declared cured and gained recognition after joining the choir on the variety show The Qualities of Men.

Lee Joo-sil  had supporting roles in films such as The Admiral: Roaring Currents, The Drug King, Train to Busan, as well as dramas like The Uncanny Counter 2 and Save Me 2. Notably, she recently played the role of the mother of Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) and police officer Hwang Jun-ho (played by Wi Ha-joon) in the hit series Squid Game season 2.

Her funeral will be held at Yonsei University’s funeral hall, and people can pay their respects starting from the 3rd. The burial is scheduled for the 5th.
