Hello, I am Jongseok’s nuna.
Following up on the post I previously shared, there is something I must say, so I’m writing a few words here.
First of all, I want to correct the misinformation being spread through news articles and online communities.
To begin with, the claim that “he got drunk, barged into his girlfriend’s house, caused a disturbance with a soju bottle, and jumped when the police arrived” is not true.
At the time, Jongseok and his girlfriend were drinking separately with their own acquaintances
(Jongseok was with a hometown friend, while the girlfriend was with her older sister, the sister’s boyfriend, and another male friend).
When Jongseok couldn’t reach his girlfriend, he became worried and went to her house with his friend.
The girlfriend, her sister, and the sister’s boyfriend were asleep. Jongseok and his friend had a conversation, lighthearted and joking, with the one male acquaintance who was awake.
Later, when the girlfriend woke up, there was no one-sided violence or rampage by Jongseok.
It was simply a minor argument between the couple.
As others tried to mediate, the situation started to become more tense, and in an attempt to break up the argument, Jongseok’s friend broke a soju bottle, which led to someone calling the police.
Claims that Jongseok ran away or tried to evade the police are also untrue.
To clarify this, I will share edited recordings from both the police and Jongseok’s friend, as well as messages from the girlfriend’s sister and conversations with the girlfriend.
(If needed, I can also upload the sister’s full audio recording.)
Additionally, Jongseok had recently suffered a major financial and emotional blow after being scammed in an investment by someone he trusted.
He not only lost all his savings, but was also left in debt, which made daily life very difficult.
Because of that, he was emotionally exhausted and relied heavily on the person he was dating.
We believe that what happened that night, combined with his emotional exhaustion, feelings of betrayal, and an overwhelming sense of emptiness, led him to make the choice he did.
At first, unverified portions of the incident were twisted and sensationalized by clickbait articles, leaving Jongseok’s life and legacy at the mercy of online judgment.
This has deeply hurt and angered his family, friends, and those who truly knew him.
With this message, I ask one final time:
Please stop spreading false stories and leaving malicious comments.
We have already reported several defamatory comments, and we will continue to report any further harmful rumors or false accusations.
Please stop dishonoring and slandering the deceased.
