It broke another world record with just its first-week viewership (specifically, a new record for opening week).
Previously, the first-week viewership record holder was Wednesday with 50 million views, but this surpasses that by a wide margin.
With just its first-week viewership, it became the 7th highest-ranking non-English Netflix production of all time.
Also, it’s now the 2nd highest first-week viewership among Korean original productions (previously, 2nd place was All of Us Are Dead and 3rd place was The Glory).
This is seriously crazy
Seeing the graph of Netflix’s first week views helps you grasp just how huge this is
(This includes movies, dramas and everything else)
1. Squid Game 1 is the biggest Netflix Show so how are their first week views so low?
> Wasn’t the buzz pretty small at first?
2. Wow the difference is quite big…
3. Fascinating. It seems like it hasn’t been long since Korea started making Netflix projects so who’d knew it would do this well..
4. If it’s a new record what are the top 2 and top 7 for?
> The new record is for the first week of viewership. With just its first-week viewership, it became the 2nd highest among Korean original productions. It also ranked 7th all-time among non-English Netflix productions based on first-week viewership.
>> I don’t get it. If it’s a new record in terms of first week views, then shouldn’t it be first for Originals or non-English too?
>>> So basically, it already holds the all-time record for first-week opening viewership.
With just its first-week viewership alone, it has entered the overall rankings.
For comparison, All of Us Are Dead had a total of around 60 million views, but Squid Game 2 surpassed that with just its first-week viewership, making it the 2nd highest Korean Netflix original.
Similarly, this first-week record alone secured it 7th place among all non-English Netflix productions.
In other words, Squid Game 2 has only revealed its first-week numbers, but those alone have already surpassed the total viewership of most other major productions.
>>> Aha, so it was compared with the overall views, thank you
5. Daebak
6. Seeing this makes me wonder if I have taste in non-mainstream series? I seriously don’t know
7. Are the first week views and viewership different?
[theqoo] SQUID GAME 2’S CRAZY NEW RECORD
1. On its first day of release, it ranked #1 in 92 out of the 93 countries where Netflix is officially available, with the exception of New Zealand.
2. Shortly after, it also claimed the #1 spot in New Zealand, making it the first Netflix drama to simultaneously rank #1 in all 93 countries where Netflix is available. It also became the first title to achieve a perfect score (930 points) on FlixPatrol.
3. It is currently maintaining a perfect score of 930 points for four consecutive days.
4. It recorded 68 million views in its first week, marking the highest first-week viewership for a Netflix drama in history.
1. This is daebak
2. I’m expecting season 3 to break this
3. Season 3 will break this
4. Seeing foreigners watch this show is so fascinating
5. Season 2 was so fun
6. I didn’t watch it but I hope it earns a lot of foreign money
7. I feel like season 3 will be even more fun
8. I seriously don’t understand people’s tasteㅋㅋㅋ
9. That’s right, of course it will do well
10. I thought that the reviews were bad but seems like it’s actually good
