Police have launched an investigation into an email claiming responsibility for the Jeju Air plane crash.

The Ministry of Justice revealed, “We received an email this morning claiming responsibility for the plane crash and that high-powered bombs would explode in various parts of downtown Korea tomorrow night. We have reported it to the Gwacheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province.” 

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, which was transferred the case, explained, “We believe it is a terrorist threat email from Japan that previously threatened terrorism against public institutions such as the Supreme Court last year.”
