A statement of Lisa from her interview with Elle Taiwan seems to be the female idol’s response to her “sexy dance controversy”
BLACKPINK’s Lisa, who was the “international darling” for years, ended up being heavily criticized by the public after her “sexy dance controversy”. In particular, the female idol decided to perform at the French night club “Crazy Horse”, leading to negative reactions, especially from Asian netizens.
In fact, Korean netizens even said that Lisa should leave BLACKPINK so as not to ruin the group’s image, while China implemented a “silent ban” on Lisa – all because of a sexy dance.
Ever since the “sexy dance controversy”, however, Lisa made no response. Instead, she continues to comfortably share images of herself at Crazy Horse, as well as snippets of her daily life.
It was during this period that the contract status of BLACKPINK got revealed, and while the group all renewed their contracts with YG, this is only for group activities, and members’ individual schedules will be completely separate from YG. Accordingly, as Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa all embarked on their individual paths, BLACKPINK’s comeback seems more distant than ever.
Anti-fans seem to have taken this opportunity to spread baseless rumors about Lisa and BLACKPINK, with heavy emphasis on the female idol’s “sexy dance controversy”, even using shaming words directed at the female idol.
Recently however, in an interview with Elle Taiwan (China), Lisa seemed to have made an implied response to these criticisms.
“You have to believe in yourself. Don’t be swayed by what others say. No one can defeat you if you just believe in yourself. The most important thing is your own happiness. I’m happy because I’m doing what I like”, Lisa said.
According to netizens, Lisa’s statement is likely affirming that she has no regrets about her sexy dance controversy, even if it leads to public rejection. It seems that Lisa is a mental fortress who knows to place herself first.
It is known that in the same interview, Lisa also revealed her future plans of focusing on family and self-improvement, including learning French.
