These days, Japanese idols are following K-pop style and sales methods so much that issues of plagiarism are coming up. Even K-pop, which used to be cheesy and cringe, has become very sophisticated and aesthetically refined, so there’s even more of a need to imitate it. The problem is that the quality doesn’t measure up, so they end up being mediocre at everything. Their dance and singing skills, visuals, and song quality are all significantly lower compared to Korean idols, which is why Japanese fans prefer following Korean idols rather than settling for downgraded Japanese idols. They’ve lost the unique charm of Japanese idols and can’t produce the same quality as Korean idols. I personally like Japanese idols for their melodies, but it’s disappointing to see the current state of things.
