NewJeans won two awards in the Digital category, including Daesang, at the 38th Golden Disc Awards
At the 38th Golden Disc Awards (GDA) held at Jakarta International Stadium in Indonesia on January 6th, NewJeans was honored with Digital Bonsang and Daesang for the song “Ditto”.
As a result, NewJeans has swept Daesang awards at all the major awards ceremonies in Korea this year, including GDA, 2023 MAMA AWARDS, MMA 2023, and 2023 AAA, proving their unrivaled presence.
Delivering their acceptance speech to global fans in both Korean and English, NewJeans said, “2023 was such an amazing year”, adding “We feel so thankful every time we perform because many people like our songs, listen to them, and be with us throughout the year. I hope we can continue enjoying it like we are doing right now”. They added, “Thanks to the great support of our Bunnies, we were able to wrap a beautiful journey in 2023. Please look forward to our next adventure in 2024.”
NewJeans also expressed their gratitude to CEO Min Hee-jin, saying “We’re so happy to receive an award with CEO Min Hee-jin today”. Earlier, ADOR’s CEO Min Hee-jin was given Producer Award in recognition of her innovative contribution to K-pop as the executive producer of NewJeans.
Last year, NewJeans continued the syndrome by releasing a series of hits, from the single album “OMG” in January to the second EP “Get Up” in January. Throughout the first quarter of 2023, “Ditto”, “OMG”, and “Hype Boy” dominated TOP 3 on Korean music charts, while “ETA” and “Super Shy” swept domestic and international charts in the second half of the year. In particular, “Ditto” even topped the Melon Daily Chart for 99 days and stayed in the Weekly Chart for 14 consecutive weeks.
In the global charts, NewJeans boasted outstanding achievements, such as ranking No.1 on Billboard 200 and entering the main song chart HOT 100 at the same time with “Get Up”. As a result, among K-pop artists who attended the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, NewJeans is the fastest group to win Daesang (1 year and 4 months).
