During the 50th civil court division hearing held at the Seoul Central District Court on May 17 KST, HYBE Labels chairman Bang Si Hyuk submitted a petition letter to the court on behalf of HYBE’s side. A portion of Bang’s letter was read by HYBE’s legal representative, revealing Bang’s position in the ongoing case against CEO Min Hee Jin of ADOR.
Bang Si Hyuk stated, “Despite recent events, creators must have freedom to create even more freely than they are now. Freedom of creation does not stop as a creator’s dream alone. The only means for K-Pop to endure is for creators to create more freely than ever before. This freedom was the force which powered K-Pop’s growth until now.”
He continued, “Some say that Min Hee Jin’s actions revealed the flaws of a multi-label system. But even the most elaborate systems cannot prevent the malice of humans. And yet, one person’s malicious actions alone cannot destroy a system built over a long period of time, and that is the staying power of this system.”
Finally, Bang Si Hyuk relayed, “I am devoted to the sustained existence of a righteous K-Pop industry, and believe that building a positive, creative environment and system in K-Pop is my entrepreneurial calling, and so I am desperate and determined to resolve this issue. I offer my apologies for causing concerns in an industry meant to deliver entertainment to the people. Please reject the request filed by the plaintiff.”
It’s said that Min Hee Jin’s side revealed similar petition letters submitted by the parents of the NewJeans members.
