As BTS members are currently on a break from group activities due to their military service, confusion has grown among fans about the timing of their return as a full group. This confusion stemmed from the third-quarter earnings conference call at HYBE, where a Q&A session was misinterpreted.
Specifically, part of CFO Lee Kyung-joon’s response—”We are discussing activities for 2026 with the members”—was highlighted, leading fans to speculate that BTS’s return as a full group might be uncertain even after the members complete their military service.
However, the question and answer were actually about BTS’s contribution to HYBE’s 2026 revenue, making it illogical to tie this directly to the timing of their full-group comeback. For a 2026 tour to happen, a full-group album would likely need to be released in late 2025.
Because the focus of the question was on 2026, there wasn’t much mention of activities in 2025, and the answer simply noted that discussions about 2026 activities were ongoing. Both the company and BTS have previously indicated that the group is expected to make a comeback in late 2025 after the members complete their service. Their synchronized enlistment was arranged to enable the group to return to fans as soon as possible, making it unlikely that their activities would be delayed until after 2026, according to industry insiders.
Regarding BTS’s post-military service plans, Big Hit Music told OSEN, “We are closely discussing BTS’s post-discharge activity plans with the artists. Once specific plans regarding timing and format are decided, we will inform fans at an appropriate time.”
