First BTS member to launch a personal business… Distilled spirit ‘IGIN’ to be released mid-month.
Produced by Genie’s Lamp Brewery and distributed by Yesan Doga, with the participation of traditional liquor master Park Rok-dam
BTS’s Jin is teaming up with celebrity chef Baek Jong Won, CEO of The Born Korea, to venture into the alcoholic beverage business. Jin is the first BTS member to embark on a personal business.
According to industry sources on the 11th, Yesan Doga, an agricultural company co-founded by Jin and Baek through joint equity investment, will launch a distilled spirit (gin) called IGIN this month. IGIN is a traditional liquor that incorporates the unique characteristics of Baek’s hometown, Yesan, in South Chungcheong Province.
To support this endeavor, Jin and Baek established the agricultural company Genie’s Lamp in December 2022, headquartered in Yesan County, South Chungcheong Province.
Interestingly, Genie’s Lamp is a name Jin had previously mentioned on a fan communication platform as a potential name for his workspace.
Genie’s Lamp will handle the production of IGIN in the future, while its distribution will be managed by Yesan Doga, an affiliate of The Born Korea.
Yesan Doga was established as a spin-off from The Born Korea specifically for the liquor business, with Byun Joon-ho, a former executive of The Born Korea, serving as its CEO.
Additionally, Park Rok-dam, known as the “godfather of Korean traditional liquor,” has joined as an auditor for the venture. Ahead of the launch, the company has reportedly started recruiting managers for liquor specialty stores to sell ICIN.
However, a representative from Yesan Doga stated, “We cannot confirm any details related to this matter.”
1. He probably started this before enlisting
2. He already said that he had interest in traditional liquor even before going to the army. He even brewed alcohol himself before
3. He’s just planning to sell traditional liquor with Baek Jong Won to make money, not like it’s some charity workㅋㅋ It’s just about lining their own pockets so why is this something to praise?
4. Seeing him doing this with Baek Jong Won does show that he has some connection to traditional liquor. I wish that he can make Korean traditional liquor more known. It’s a shame that the most disgusting liquor soju is the most popular one
5. It’s not like he’s starting a liquor business himself so what’s with the reaction… it’s good that he’s trying to popularize Korean traditional liquor
6. Suga will like this~
7. I did feel like Jin would start a business
8. Why are people nitpicking this? What’s with the vibe here?
9. But someone in his group committed DUI… ok…
10. Why liquor?ㅠㅠ
