Subway construction blamed for ‘sinkhole deaths’
Construction officials had already received complaints of ‘collapse concerns’ in February
The complaint was made directly below the area where the sinkhole occurred
“Weak soil quality and strong soil pressure in the construction area”
However, the Seoul Metropolitan Government responded that “there is no problem”
While a subway extension has been cited as the main cause of the Seoul sinkhole fatalities, it turns out that an official involved in the project had complained to the Seoul Metropolitan Government about a
“collapse” just a month earlier.
The official pointed out the exact area where the sinkhole occurred, but the Seoul Metropolitan Government responded with a blanket statement that there was no problem. It has been pointed out that the Seoul Metropolitan Government may have been complacent.
Seoul Metropolitan Government, take responsibility for this
1. Someone died for this
