Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon may be teaming up for the upcoming romantic comedy “Petty Love” (literal title)!

On November 20, Star Today and OSEN reported that Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon have been cast as leads in “Petty Love.”

In response to the report, both actors’ agency Artist Company stated, “They have received offers for the project and are currently reviewing them.” The drama’s production company Studio &NEW also shared, “It’s true we have extended offers to the two actors. The project is currently in pre-production.”

“Petty Love” delves into the love-hate relationship between a veteran detective actor aspiring to become a master of romantic dramas and a former award-winning political journalist who finds herself demoted to the entertainment desk. The series is penned by Jung Yeo Rang of “Doctor Cha” and helmed by Kim Ga Ram of “Good Partner.”

Lee Jung Jae has been offered the role of Im Hyun Joon, a celebrated actor known for his detective roles but dreams of being the “prince of romantic comedies.” Im Hyun Joon is more famous for his on-screen character Kang Pil Gu from the hit series “Good Cop Kang Pil Gu,” now heading into its fifth season. However, the stress of being pigeonholed as a righteous detective drives him to the brink as years of repeating the same role leave him in a creative rut. Yearning for a fresh start, he dreams of transforming his image through romantic comedies.

Lim Ji Yeon is in talks to play Wi Jung Sook, an accomplished political journalist with eight years of experience and a prestigious Journalist of the Year award under her belt. Her career takes an unexpected turn when her investigation into corruption results in a demotion to the entertainment department. There, she crosses paths with Im Hyun Joon, a star she has secretly admired, and her world begins to unravel as she unexpectedly dives into the life of a fangirl, turning her once career-driven life upside down.
