[theqoo] IT IS REPORTED THAT “KNOCKOUT” IS AT THE FINAL STAGE OF FILMING AND THOSE INVOLVED IN THE PROJECT ARE FACING INCREASING CONCERNS

[…]

An industry source said, ‘We couldn’t have predicted the controversy involving one actor, and given that the contracts and filming were completed before the incident, there is a sense of unfairness.’ While the controversy surrounding a top star is painful and carries consequences, those involved in the pre-produced works and their livelihood are not to blame.

There are also concerns that, due to the nature of film and content production, the projects must be released in order to finalize the payments. A representative from a planning company stated, ‘Actors usually receive their full appearance fees upfront, but the numerous staff members involved in the project are paid in installments over several rounds. Payments are only finalized once the work is released or made public.’

Knockout is currently in the final stages of filming, and those involved in the project are facing deep concerns. Unless Kim Soohyun completely clears the allegations, the current drama has almost completed filming for seasons 1 and 2. A location shoot in Miami, USA was scheduled for April, but due to the issue with the cast, it is currently uncertain whether the overseas filming will even be possible.

The argument is gaining strength that, instead of talking about ‘responsibility’ with no substance, the issue should be publicly addressed by ensuring proper contract fulfillment. When a project is impacted by a cast member’s issue, even if it takes time, financial responsibility must be carried out to the end. The damage done to the project does not disappear just because the celebrity’s scandal is forgotten by the public. It is now the time to clearly define the legal responsibilities in contracts, including penalties for breach of contract and precise standards for calculating damages, so that everyone involved can receive at least their fair share.

1. Scrap the show

2. Just take your penalty fees…

3. Get the penalty fee and share it among the staff

4. You’re better off canning the whole thing off…Isn’t it the easiest way?

5. Wasn’t the title “Knock Off”?

6. Go get that penalty of 700 million won

7. How are they still debating?

8. The staff deserve to get a portion of that money too

9. Not gonna watch anyways

10. Who will watch a drama with a p**o on it?
