[theqoo] KIM SE-UI (GAROSERO) ARRESTED FOR ‘KIM SOOHYUN’S DEFAMATION CASE’… “CONCERNS OVER DESTRUCTION OF EVIDENCE AND FLIGHT RISK”

Kim Se-ui, the operator of the YouTube channel “GaroSero Research Institute,” has finally been arrested.

On the 26th, Judge Bu Dong-sik of the Seoul Central District Court, who specializes in warrant hearings, conducted a pre-arrest hearing (warrant review) for Kim Se-ui and subsequently issued an arrest warrant. Kim Se-ui is facing charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of S****l Crimes (filming and distributing using cameras, etc.), as well as defamation, intimidation, and attempted coercion.

Previously, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station had applied for an arrest warrant for Kim Se-ui, and the prosecution also requested an arrest warrant from the court. It is reported that the police determined Kim Se-ui repeatedly spread false information related to Kim Soohyun for the purpose of generating YouTube revenue.

In particular, the police believe that Kim Se-ui edited and manipulated some of the KakaoTalk conversation screenshots he received from the family of the late Kim Saeron. It is reported that there is evidence he made a total of seven modifications, including changing the name of the conversation partner to “Kim Soohyun.”

Furthermore, during the investigation, it was suggested that the audio recording of Kim Saeron, which was released at a press conference last year, may have been generated using AI (artificial intelligence). It is reported that the police concluded Kim Se-ui spread false information for the purpose of defamation, even though he was aware that Kim Soohyun had never dated the deceased when she was a MN and that Kim Soohyun was not responsible for her death.

However, Kim Se-ui has denied all charges. After the warrant review hearing, he told reporters, “I do not admit to a single thing and plan to refute everything,” claiming that it was “a bogus warrant based on facts that haven’t even been properly verified.”

Regarding the controversial audio recording, he countered, “The National Forensic Service stated that it was impossible to determine whether it was AI-manipulated,” adding, “I cannot accept that they are relying solely on the analysis by a private firm commissioned by Kim Soohyun’s side.”
