Despite debuting at No. 1 at the box office with $19.1 million from 3,807 screens, the film’s opening performance is considered underwhelming.
The worldwide total so far stands at $53.3 million, with notable contributions from:
South Korea: $14.6 million
France: $2.9 million
United Kingdom: $2.7 million
The film’s production budget is estimated at $118 million, with marketing costs around $80 million. To break even, it would need to make roughly $400 million.
For comparison, the sci-fi film Ad Astra, starring Brad Pitt, had a similar budget ($100 million) and a comparable opening weekend ($19 million). Ad Astra ended with a North American total of $50 million and a worldwide gross of $127.4 million.
While Ad Astra received a CinemaScore of B-, Mickey 17 earned a B, suggesting that it might have a shot at surpassing $60 million in North America.
1. Honestly speaking, it was boring…
2. It was fun and the person who watched with me wants to watch it againㅋㅋㅋ The creatures were cute and the actor’s acting was good too
3. There were some boring scenes but it was boring overall. I even want to watch it again
4. I really enjoyed it. If it had the strong message and heavy tone like Parasite, I don’t think my mental state could handle it these days
5. I feel like this movie was quite comforting… You might not like it if you were expecting some sharp satire but it was a rather warm movie. Even if I wouldn’t consider it a family movie…ㅎ (the bed scene)
6. The writing felt so sloppy;;
7. Whether it was supposed to be satire or black comedy, the movie itself was just really boring
8. The first part was too boring……
9. I found it fun thoughㅠ
10. It was fun but it doesn’t have that crazy whirlwind that Parasite had. I kept thinking about Yoon Seokyeol and Kim Gunhee watching itㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
