[theqoo] MIN HEEJIN “I HOPE THAT NEWJEANS LIVES THE LIFE THEY WANT AFTER 7 YEARS, THEY SHOULDN’T RENEW FOR THE COMPANY’S PROFIT”

Min Hee-jin shared her plans at a press conference held on May 31 at the Korea Press Center in Seoul, regarding the ADOR extraordinary general meeting.

She stated, “My vision for NewJeans and myself is simply to live happily. These girls joined because they wanted to be celebrities and artists without fully understanding what it entails, drawn by the appeal of a big company. They entered the industry without knowing the system. The key is how we teach, guide, and shape them as individuals.”

Min continued, “I always tell the members that our time together during the contract period is a learning experience. They should use these seven years to study and prepare for a future where they can sustain themselves. When they grow up, they will want to pursue their own paths. They need to practice independence to be able to make free choices later on. If I keep spoon-feeding them, how will they manage on their own later?”

She added, “I want them to become cool artists or, if they get tired after seven years of hard work, to pursue other dreams like studying abroad or getting married. I hope they live the life they desire afterward.”

Min expressed her belief that “re-signing contracts for the company’s profit is detrimental. This vision might be unprecedented in the K-pop industry. The members and their parents might find my vision interesting and fun. I dislike the stagnation in the K-pop scene. It needs variety. If we stick to our style while other styles become popular, it keeps things exciting. This diversity is what makes it fun. By succeeding financially with such an approach, we can become a good business role model.”

1. She’s cool. I’m learning something from her again

2. She’s f*cking cool

3. She’s way cooler than I thought. The entertainment industry has earned a new veteran

4. What an adult

5. As expected, she’s the bigger person

6. If the members want to, they can re-sign, with a mindset like that, she won’t put pressure on the members unlike someone else

7. I’m so jealous of NewJeans

8. She’s cool. This is easy to think but hard to execute. I think that she’s such a cool person unlike those producers who suck their artists’ bone marrow dry and exhaust talented artists until their image is completely consumed

9. NewJeans are so lucky to have someone like her as the CEO in the K-pop scene

10. This makes me envy NewJeans so much
