[theqoo] NEWJEANS’ PARENTS, DENY DISCORD… “THE COMPANY IS EXPLOITING FAMILY AFFAIRS FOR MEDIA PLAY”

Amid the ongoing legal dispute between NewJeans and their agency ADOR over contract termination, reports emerged suggesting a rift among the members’ parents. However, all the parents have now denied these rumors, claiming the company (HYBE and ADOR) is manipulating the situation for media play.

On the evening of April 4th, the parents of NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, through their legal representative Sejong Law Firm and via their own Instagram account, issued a joint statement denying any internal division.

“The reports stating that there is a division among the members’ parents are completely untrue,” they said. “All five members are firmly against returning to HYBE, and this decision was made after sufficient discussions within each family. We had agreed from the start that no legal action would be taken unless all five members were in agreement. The members trust one another deeply and are united.”

They added, “Despite the difficult situation, the five members continue to meet frequently and maintain a strong friendship. We parents also stay in regular contact and support each other more than ever, so to see ungrounded rumors like ‘family division’ or ‘member departure’ reported in the media is both shocking and deeply regrettable. However, as some reports have now named specific members, we feel it necessary to clarify our stance.”

The statement continued, “Guardianship is a deeply personal family issue. We hope that it is no longer maliciously used in connection with the ADOR dispute. It’s extremely troubling that a company—where trust should be foundational—is exploiting a member’s family situation for media play. As parents, we cannot send our children back to such a place.”

During that hearing, a family dispute involving a minor member’s guardianship was mentioned by the court. The judge said, “This concerns Defendant 4,” and noted that a family court decision had confirmed guardianship rights and retroactively approved all legal actions so far. Defendant 4 is Haerin (Kang Haerin). While law firm Sejong and legal representatives for Defendants 4 and 5 (Hyein) were listed, Haerin’s mother—her legal guardian—was not among them, prompting speculation that she opposed the lawsuit. That speculation led to the media reporting the “NewJeans parents’ division.”

Now, the parents have firmly denied this, accusing the company of misusing private family matters to control the narrative.
