[theqoo] REVIEW OF KIM SOOHYUN’S MOVIE “REAL” FEMALE LEAD AUDITION

“It’s just like those circulating audition reviews ㅋㅋ. Here’s what I strongly felt after that experience: an over-the-top and “acting without acting” audition.

1. The production company, labeled as a “cultural industry professional company,” felt like one of those fly-by-night operations. But it’s not uncommon for a company to be set up just for a specific project, so I guess it could be okay.

2. It was strange that the audition was held in a club during the day. The notice did say to wear club attire, but I ignored it and just wore whatever I felt like. Some girls wore something like a hostess dress, but there were also some who just came in normal clothes.

3. When I arrived at the club, they handed out stickers to put on our phone camerasㅋㅋㅋ They told us not to film, but who’s going to stop someone from filming? It all started feeling over-the-top.

4. All the audition participants were sitting around, but the staff were acting like they were at the club, and they said they’d just film us if we were having fun. At this point, I started to think it was weird.
   Because how can they know who the good candidates are if they’re filming? The place was dark, you couldn’t see anyone acting, and there were no participant numbers or name tags to help identify anyone.

5. They didn’t make us act at all. Before the audition started, it suddenly got really quiet, and I heard a candidate from the staff’s side doing a monologue, but I think they just asked randomly without any purpose. They’d only film if you were having fun.
   Normally, auditions have you prepare a free performance, and then they give you specific scenes to act, but there was none of that here.

6. Then the lights went out, and the “real” audition(?) started. A few people with cameras started walking around filming, haha. Even though it was an audition, I was scared they’d film me, and when the camera came close, I got annoyed. I seriously considered leaving and going home. I thought, “Are they filming aspiring actors just to use it somewhere else?”

7. In the end, I decided to leave, but the guard or staff member standing by the door was like, “Oh, why are you leaving so soon?” They acted like I was a guest ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

I wonder if that movie will do well (it felt like it was being done on a whim). It wasn’t an audition; I strongly felt like I was just a bystander. I don’t know, everything about it felt off. 
There was nothing typical about it, and I couldn’t help but think, “Is it really worth it for the actors?” So I went for coffee instead… Inside the club, it felt almost like a blind, aimless atmosphere, which made me feel uncomfortable. It seemed like a very, very strange group.”
