[theqoo] ROSE’S APT CONTROVERSY? MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT “IT PROMOTES BAD INFLUENCE FROM THE WEST”

The Malaysian Ministry of Health recently raised a concern through their official social media account, asking, “Have you heard the song ‘Apartment’ by Rosé and Bruno Mars?”

They pointed out that in the song, the term “apartment” is used as a place of temptation, which normalizes behaviors that clash with Eastern cultural values.

They further expressed, “What’s even more concerning is that this song is frequently used in social media videos and is infiltrating everyday life. There is also the possibility that children may unconsciously sing along to these lyrics.”

Additionally, they stated, “As parents, educators, and members of society, we must be vigilant about uncritically accepting the influences of Western culture. While there may be various interpretations of this song and defense from fans, it’s important to analyze the lyrics and make our own judgments.”

The problematic lyrics:

Kissy face, kissy face, sent to your phone but I’m tryna kiss your lips for real

Turn this apateu into a club, I’m talkin’ drink, dance, smoke, freak, party all night

1. Imagine how much they listened to the song ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

2. So I’ve been living in a club?

3. This country isn’t in their right minds

4. This reminds me of a specific agency ㅋㅋㅋ

5. Yeah thanks for analyzing her lyrics

6. The inferiority complex because it’s doing good

7. Don’t listen to it then ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Even if you don’t, it won’t affect it much

8. Ugh okay~

9. Aren’t Malaysian muslims?

10. That’s a game, a game ㅠㅠ
