Recently, Sunwoo became embroiled in a controversy regarding his attitude after a video of him leaving work following a radio broadcast was shared. In the video, after boarding an elevator, Sunwoo shouted, “My AirPods!” and a security guard behind him picked up the AirPods. However, it was pointed out that Sunwoo received the AirPods with one hand but did not offer a proper thank you.
In response, Sunwoo addressed the issue on a fan communication platform, saying, “Everyone was talking about the AirPods, so I looked up the video and it really looks like I just received them without saying anything and acting rude.”
He continued, “A fan shouted something, but I didn’t know what had fallen at first, so I was confused. When I realized it was my AirPods, I said, ‘My AirPods!’ and looked for them with my eyes. When I couldn’t find them and received the AirPods, I didn’t bow my head but just said ‘thank you.'”
Sunwoo added, “I understand that it could have looked that way. I always say ‘thank you’ and greet people, even when someone holds the door for me. Don’t worry.”
He further emphasized, “I can’t explain and clarify everything like this forever, but I realize that it looked like my fault, so I acknowledge it. However, I always greet the cleaning staff and others at music shows properly, so I’ll be more mindful to make sure no such misunderstandings happen again.”
In addition, Sunwoo had previously faced controversy in July 2020 when a photo of him holding a cigarette at a beach was shared, sparking a smoking controversy. Although Sunwoo was not a minor, the issue arose because the beach was a non-smoking area and the photo was posted on his official SNS, which was deemed inappropriate.
Regarding that incident, Sunwoo wrote an apology on the official fan cafe, saying, “I am leaving an apology because of my mistake.” He explained, “After the competition program ended, I went to the beach for a short vacation with the members. However, I behaved in a way that didn’t respect public space norms. I’m so sorry to my fans, and I don’t know how to express this.” He continued, “I feel ashamed and sorry to the precious members, the hardworking staff, and my family who trust me.”
Sunwoo concluded, “I deeply regret and am self-reflecting on my mistake. I will make sure not to show this kind of wrong behavior again. I sincerely apologize again to the fans who were hurt and disappointed because of my mistake. I will reflect deeply, feel guilty, and make sure to grow. I am truly sorry.”
1. When incidents like this happen, most celebrities ignore it, but the fact that he’s providing feedback shows that he’s probably in the top 10% of celebrities in terms of character.
2. Stop it already, it was a misunderstanding..
3. The article’s content was way too TMI
4. The Boyz Sunwoo? The one with the Ask controversy?
5. This is my first time hearing about it, people are ganging up on him
6. Still, I’m not surprised
7. It’s a fact that this guy is misogyn**t, but looks like people are still deciding the stan him. As expected women’s love is amazing
8. No but people should cut it down
9. I can understand him wanting to undo the misunderstanding, but the way he wrote on the fans platform to explain himself sound so aggressive, like he’s obviously annoyed, and it’s not helping his case…
He’s also already famous for his Ask incident, and the way he explained it was just “I was talking to friends.” He’s also known for the love for his fans, but then some time ago, he also caused another controversy with their fansigns. I don’t know a single song from this group but I’m always seeing him cause something in my timeline… And it hasn’t even been that long since their recent controversy, but he’s always acting like that, it just shows the type of person he is ㅋㅋ
Also in his clarification, when he talked about “I always greet the cleaning staff properly” was just…wow…
10. Seriously is this worth an article ㄷㄷ
