It was one thing to say, “I’m going to give you a long vacation.”
“I’ll have a new producer in a year and a half” are two different things
“At the time, A and the three NewJeans members’ mothers were told by CEO Park Jiwon, “After the Tokyo Dome performance, we plan to give NewJeans a long vacation,” and “It takes about a year and a half to recruit a (Grammy-winning) producer, but we are trying to bring one in as soon as possible.””
Even the parents themselves didn’t ask how long the “long vacation” would be.
But they combined it with the next sentence and asked, “So are you saying they’ll be on vacation for a year and a half?”
“A said, “I wasn’t able to ask how long the ‘long vacation’ would be, but during the meeting, CEO Park said, ‘It takes about a year and a half to recruit a Grammy-winning producer, but we’re trying to get one as soon as possible.'”
They added, “So as we were leaving, the mothers talked among themselves, saying, ‘If it takes 1 year and 6 months to get the Grammy-winning producer, and they’re trying to bring them in as soon as possible, does that mean the long vacation will last that long?””
This conversation took place when ADOR met with the parents to persuade them.
The mention of a Grammy-winning producer was meant to emphasize that they were offering better treatment (as in, they would bring in someone of a level that takes a year and a half to recruit).
Most people misunderstood this as “They said they would give a 1.5-year vacation,” so I’m posting this to clarify.
