“
Hello, this is Tzuyang.I would like to sincerely apologize to my viewers and subscribers in the Philippines for the upsetting video with a Korean comedian that was uploaded on January 28th.
I have the utmost respect for the Philippines and am truly grateful for the many viewers who watch my videos there.
However, I didn’t realize that the content I created might have hurt someone’s feelings in a way that I didn’t intend.
Once again, I sincerely apologize to my Filipino viewers and anyone else who felt uncomfortable while watching the video.
The video has now been removed.
We will take your criticisms and comments to heart and be more mindful of the content we create in the future.”
(T/N: the news segment gives a bit of backstory. In short, she invited what seemed to be a Filipino guest on her channel to try Vietnamese foods. But turns out, she was actually a Korean comedian. However, in the video, the comedian is seen talking in “weird” accent and introduced herself as someone who used to be a wife who worked at a farm but who is now a gag-woman. That gag woman played a migrated woman (from the Philippines) on the gag concert.
Afterwards, Tzuyang received massive criticism for being racist and criticizing her for mocking and portraying Filipino people negatively – notably by insinuating that Filipino people are tanned and that foreigners have weird accent when talking in another language.)
“+1K: It’s not funny… As a Filipino, there is no “Nitung” in the Philippines. You should have done better research before luring Filipinos and using the Filipino flag… As someone who watched Tzuyang’s videos, it’s low class and blatantly racist. If you want a Filipino audience, you should invite Filipinos as guests and eat Filipino food….”
“+2.5K: As a Filipino, I was initially proud to see that she was Filipino, but the moment I realized that she wasn’t and that she was imitating or mocking the Filipino dialect, my heart broke. Our accent is not a joke and should never be laughed at. I hope everyone understands my point. Thank you.
“+390: Actually, I was disappointed that the Korean comedian was doing a Filipino impersonation, but I guess I didn’t realize it right away because I don’t watch comedy concerts. It’s a shame that I didn’t get to see the full video because there were so many people commenting on it… But the food looked delicious as always.
+127: As a Korean, I’m embarrassed. I apologize to the Filipinos. I hope that Tzuyang takes down this video and that the gaga women would stop doing these racist jokes.”
1. As expected from Gag Concert… I hope they flop
2. Will she like it if foreigners would portray Korean people by squinting their eyes?
3. What is wrong with Tzuyang…
4. Mocking other people isn’t funny…
5. No but in what generation are they living in? Are they still unable to let go of the gags from the 1990’s?
6. The standard is on the floor
7. It’s legendary how she had so little awareness that she filmed and released this video like that
8. What’s up with her content?;; if they changed positions and that a non-Korean was mimicking Korean people and making a caricature of us while eating a mukbang, we’d be upset too
9. What was her intention for doing this?
10. Tzuyang just has an endless amount of controversies
