Updates On “Squid Game 2” Filming Process, “The Cast Filmed Without Stunt Doubles”

More information on the production of “Squid Game 2”, which is expected to air in 2024, has been revealed

“Squid Game 2” is definitely one of the most anticipated dramas in 2024. Like Season 1, director Hwang Dong-hyuk was also in charge of writing the script and directing the drama, and actor Lee Jung-jae will also return as the main character Ki-hoon and continue the story of the previous season.

Earlier this month, Netflix revealed some parts of the sets for Season 2 to domestic and foreign media through a press conference. Director Hwang Dong-hyuk confidently said, “You can look forward to deeper stories and messages that will unfold together with new games and new characters”.

Some insiders recently told OSEN, “Director Hwang Dong-hyuk and the production team are making every effort to prevent the leak of content, such as the new games, to the public”. Accordingly, “Squid Game” team does not give the entire script to the actors in each episode. “The actors only receive the script of the parts in which they appear as an online file rather than a paper script. In particular, after a certain period, the script can no longer be downloaded and opened”, they said.

It has not been confirmed whether the actors had to sign confidentially agreements or contracts, but the content has been successfully kept secret for five months since the filming began thanks to that strategy.

In addition, an official shared, “Lead actors, such as Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Im Si-wan, and Kang Ha-neul also waited hours on the set to film their own scenes. There is no privilege for senior actors or star actors”, adding “All the cast members spent most of their time filming the drama. I heard sometimes they filmed the scenes by themselves even without stunt doubles”.

In fact, it does not matter what kind of game Director Hwang will introduce. What keeps the viewers looking forward to Season 2 is the messages he will deliver through the story like he said.

Released in September 2021, “Squid Game” created a worldwide syndrome and became the Netflix drama with the highest number of views. “;Squid Game” team also won many awards at prestigious domestic and global awards ceremonies.
