It’s not enough to just be at the level where people in Korea say, “Oh, your English is so good!!!”
You have to be truly native-level to break into the U.S. market.
Just as international students from Southeast Asia can’t get jobs at Korean companies just because they speak a little Korean, it’s the same with K-pop.
That’s why BTS is truly a miracle, they became global stars even though they don’t speak English like native speakers.
BP, on the other hand, has members whose English skills are at a native level

If you’re as incredibly talented as Jungkook, that’s all it takes. People will naturally flock to you. Even that girl group that’s supposed to be good at English, all they could do was talk about hair styling in a half-hearted way; as soon as the interview got a little deeper, they couldn’t say a single word

Even TWICE who doesn’t know any English is filling up stadiums just fine

If English skills were that important, then they would just stan Americans. Why would they stan K-pop? Tsk tsk

But look at Bad Bunny, he doesn’t speak English very well, but he’s still killing it. He dated Kendall Jenner and even acted in a big movie… Honestly, being Asian is a pretty big hurdle in the global market. In that sense, BTS and BLACKPINK are truly incredible

?? It was around the time when the 2nd generation, which had almost no foreign members, was starting to gain traction in the West tooㅋㅋ Do they really think English makes you invincible or something?ㅋㅋ
