BLACKPINK’s Comeback is Unlikely as Members Embark on Solo Journeys 

Despite all members signing with YG for group activities, their packed solo schedules means that BLACKPINK’s comeback is unlikely

In recent days, the media has been buzzing with the news of Jennie establishing her personal label. Despite signing with YG for group activities alongside other members, Jennie has chosen to break away from YG regarding her solo career. It is also reported that Jennie’s personal label “ODDATELIER” will focus on managing her activities in music, fashion, beauty.

Following the news of Jennie establishing ODDATELIER, on the morning of December 24, Lisa also confirmed her performance schedule at a charity concert in France, sharing the lineup with Stray Kids, Pharrell Williams, Maroon 5. The event, which is scheduled for January 26, 2024, has excited BLINKs (fans of BLACKPINK) as it marks Lisa’s first public performance after contract renewal, which is completely separate from her group.

However, Jennie and Lisa’s movements also indicate that the members have begun independent activities, no longer constrained by YG’s management.

In addition to Jennie and Lisa, Jisoo has also begun to focus on her acting career immediately after concluding BLACKPINK’s “Born Pink” World Tour. Particularly, Jisoo has confirmed her participation in a new acting project. Thus, she will have a busy personal schedule until the completion of this work.

At present, only Rosé has not confirmed any solo activities after Born Pink. According to many sources, the main vocalist of BLACKPINK is the only member to re-sign a personal contract with YG. Recently, she also released a special Christmas gift set with her pet dog Hank under the company. Additionally, many hints suggest the possibility that Rosé will release a solo album in 2024, following Jennie.

While BLACKPINK has renewed their contract for group activities, the members are pursuing individual solo directions, causing fans to worry that BLACKPINK’s comeback is unlikely, or at least will take an extremely long time.

Previously in the renewal announcement, YG promised fans that they would prepare many impressive plans for BLACKPINK, including an album and a world tour. However, the promise lacks the most crucial element: the timing.

According to Korean media, the global girl group plans to make a comeback in 2024, but given the current situation, BLACKPINK’s comeback is unlikely for this time frame.
