Popular girl group NewJeans is wrapping up this year with various year-end stages in Korea, US and Japan
According to ADOR on December 26th, NewJeans will attend TBS’s 65th Shining! Japan Record Grand Record Awards, known as one of the most prestigious music award ceremonies in Japan, on the 30th.
NewJeans became the first foreign artist to get nominated for Daesang at this music awards. That day, the girl group will perform three songs Ditto, ETA and New Jeans. Until now, Japanese duo YOASOBI has been the only artist to have a three-song stage and NewJeans will be the first foreign artist to do that.
Prior to this, NewJeans will also appear on Nihon TV’s representative year-end music program “Annual Music Awards 2023” on the 27th.
In addition, the group will be the first K-pop girl group to perform on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024”, known to be the most-viewed special program in the US, on the last day of this year. Various superstars, including Post Malone, Ivy Queen, Jelly Roll and Sabrina Carpenter, are also expected to join the show.
Of course, NewJeans is also greeting Korean fans with their attendance at various year-end festivals and award ceremonies. Following the 2023 Music Bank Global Festival, NewJeans showed up on the 2023 SBS Gayo Daejeon on the 25th and performed a hit song medley. Earlier at the Melon Music Awards (MMA) 2023 on the 2nd, the girl group also staged six songs from their second EP “Get Up”, certifying NewJeans’s power. In particular, they also swept Daesang awards at all the major awards ceremonies in Korea, including MMA 2023, MAMA 2023, Asian Artist Awards 2023, etc.
In the meantime, NewJeans received high evaluations from foreign media outlets, such as RollingStone, Consequence of Sound, Pitchfork, Billboard, NME, GORILLA vs. BEAR, etc., and was listed in the rankings of Best Songs of the Year and Best Albums of the Year.

NewJeans is only in their second year of career but the group has been named alongside many pop stars, including Taylor Swift, SZA, Troye Sivan, Olivia Rodrigo, etc. With their single “OMG” released in January and “Get Up” released in July, NewJeans Syndrome continues not only on Korean music charts but also in global charts, such as Billboard. As such, the group was honored with Top Global K-pop Artist at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, one of the TOP3 US music awards.
