[instiz] INSTAGRAM STARTS PAID SERVICE, FREE USERS WILL HAVE ADS

While social networking service (SNS) companies like X are introducing paid subscription services one after another, Instagram and Facebook have also announced plans to introduce paid subscription services.

On the 30th (local time), Meta  announced that it would introduce a paid subscription service that can be used to remove advertisements for its SNS, Facebook, and Instagram.

Mehta explained, “To comply with evolving European regulations, starting in November, Facebook and Instagram users will be able to continue using the services for free with ads, or be offered the option of an ad-free plan.”

Starting this month, we plan to introduce a new subscription service starting in the EU, European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland.

Instagram and Facebook users in the region can use SNS without advertising by paying a monthly subscription fee, and user information are not used for advertising.

Meta’s paid subscription service costs 9.99 euros per month on the web, and 12.99 euros on Google Android and Apple IOS mobile including fees.

This service applies to all accounts connected by the user.

Meta’s introduction of the ‘paid service’ card appears to be a measure to generate new revenue as the European Union (EU) strengthened regulations on customized advertising.
