Pop star Britney Spears, 41, has revealed that she had an abortion during her former relationship with Justin Timberlake, 42. The two were reportedly in a relationship for about three years, from 1999 to 2002, and were between the ages of 18 and 21 at the time.
According to People, Britney revealed in her upcoming memoir, “The Woman in Me,” which will be released on April 24, that she was pregnant when she dated singer and actor Justin Timberlake. She further revealed that she had an abortion because Justin didn’t want the child.
“I loved Justin very much,” Spears said in an excerpt from her memoir, “and I always expected that one day we would start a family… (the pregnancy) was just so much more than I expected,” she continued.
“But Justin was definitely not happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready for a baby in our lives, that we were too young,” she recalled.
“If it (the decision to have an abortion) had been left to me alone, I would never have done it,” she said, adding, “But Justin made it clear that he didn’t want to be a father.” “To this day, it’s still one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced in my life,” Spears said of her abortion.
Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake’s rep did not respond to US media requests for comment on Britney Spears’ abortion confession. Moreover, Justin is currently reportedly working on a new album.
