In 2023, MBC showcased original and compelling works across various genres, capturing viewers’ attention
This year, the dramas featured numerous couples that made viewers’ hearts flutter, from “Kokdu: Season of Deity” with Kim Jung-hyun and Im Soo-hyang to “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” with Bae In-hyuk and Lee Se-young.
The Best Couple Award, determined by viewer votes, holds special significance, recognizing the couples that captivated viewers’ hearts. The official nominees for the Best Couple Award were revealed on December 18th, with voting ongoing.
The first nominee is couple Woo Do-hwan and Kim Ji-yeon from the drama “Joseon Attorney” (written by Choi Jin-young, directed by Kim Seung-ho, Lee Han-joon). “Joseon Attorney” about a foreign branch (attorney) who takes revenge on the enemy who killed his parents through trial.
The second nominee is the lead couple from the drama “My Dearest” (written by Hwang Jin-young, directed by Kim Seong-yong, Cheon Soo-jin), which recorded MBC’s highest ratings this year (12.9%). Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun-jin played central roles in a story set against the backdrop of war-torn Neunggun-ri, portraying love and vitality.
The third couple is Cha Eun-woo and Park Gyu-young from “A Good Day to Be a Dog”. The series is about the romance between a woman and a man, the woman who is cursed to transform into a dog when she kisses someone, and a man who is the only person who can break the curse but is afraid of dogs due to a childhood trauma.
The fourth nominee is couple Lee Se-young and Bae In-hyuk from “The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” (written by Go Nam-jeong, directed by Park Sang-hoon, Kang Chae-won). The drama tells the story of Park Yeon-woo (Lee Se-young), a Joseon confucian girl who struggles to return back to Joseon after time-traveling 200 years in time to the year 2023 after being thrown into a well by an unknown person after the death of Kang Tae-ha (Bae In-hyuk), her husband.
The winner of the Best Couple Award will be announced based on viewer votes through the official website and Naver Entertainment Voting until midnight on Dec 25th.
